Hi all, I have found the grout in the main head has been deteriorating over the past few seasons, pic attached. The grout is turning to dust and needs removing and re-grouted with a suitable product.

My question is, has anyone else had this issue and is a std bathroom grout suitable. I’ve stripped a few bathrooms of grout but I’m just not sure what would be a suitable replacement for a boat?

    Many thanks MC

We were confronted by the same problem on our Nauticat 44, along with several tiles being loose and a couple missing. Since we live aboard in Southeast Alaska we decided instead to add a teak grated shower mat that I modified to fit both heads and the shower. It took three off-the-shelf mats and some carpentry, but the floor is warmer and no problems with trying to match old grout.

If the grout is breaking up the best solution would be to rake out the old grout and then redo with an epoxy grout which is widely available (eg Screwfix) in many colours. I like the teak grating solution but costly and skill required
