InactiveHello All,
Big red top on plastic tank under saloon sole does not seal well and needs to be loosened / removed to fill tank from fwd / port deck fill. The Siltala N33 manual says the vent outlet is ‘Stbd topside and filling should be stopped when water comes out of the vent’. This vent I cannot find which would be a useful place to start searching for a probable blockage in the line.
Anyone know where the pipe run is, starts, vents ?
Cheers,
Ned Cosckley N33 521.

Martin ReedParticipantHi Ned the vent on my N33 714 is on the port side outboard of the deck filler. I have a similar problem, I just tighten the cap as much as possible and fill until the water starts to come out of the red cap, by then it is fairly full.
Cheers

InactiveThanks Martin, nothing on my deck in that area, just the black water vent on the cabin side and black water empty point. The tank vent must be there somewhere, and it should not be necessary to …..ask the missus to step away from the galley / remove and park the sole plate / unscrew the red top / run about on deck + dock / keep asking ‘when ?’ / repeat….. Hey Ho, happy days ! Perhaps Velli knows.

Theresa WarrellParticipantHi Ned,
on my N33 (hull nr 787), the vent is on port, on the side of the hull (actually there are two holes, may be one is the tank vent and the other one the vent for black water, I did not check). When I hear a noise of bubbles coming out of the tank vent I stop filling. As the red cap doesn’t fit perfectly (the former owner mishandled it I guess), I never fill the tank completely (not more than 75%), otherwise water leaks into the bilge when the boat heels seriously.
The filling hole is on the deck, on port, around 2 meters from the bow.
I’ll de back on my boat next sunday and will be able to make additional check if you need.
Regards,
Joël

Theresa WarrellParticipantMine is the same as Martin’s. I do the same as he and make sure I empty the bilges too! Obviously no improvements from 500+, mine is 1000+ Rosey
