Am considering possibility/options of a mizzenmast-mounted wind generator for our NC36.

Would appreciate your experience, recommendations, guidance.

I made a big study of wind gennys and the best ,and most powerful one is the Eclectic Energy D 400.I bought one 2nd hand but have not put it up yet as i do not think it will go on the mizzen mast because of its weight and size, with the turning circle of the fin and the blades. But there are many lighter ones like the LE series which are quite powerful. Some of the older types are just trickle chargers and not really worth the money.Trouble is they look quite attractive because of their light weight, and size. It is perhaps advisable to check the more modern firms ,like LE , to make sure they are still in business.Happy hunting and may all your voltages be big ones!!!!!

Further to my reply/post re a D 400 wind generator last year does anybody have any ideas about the D400 mounted high up on a mizzen mast. The d400 weighs 17 kilos + or 35 pounds plus in old money. Will the mizzen mast take the weight or is the wg too heavy. Are there any agencies i can contact to ask their opinion as really, the mizzen mast is the ideal place.Any ideas?

    Yes it will work well.
My 2011 N411 has a D400 on the mizzen mast approx halfway up.
Runs very nicely but adds little to the batteries unless we have 20kts.
It was very helpful when my charger failed; solar panels were good for the daytime and with the little help from the D400 at night we continued to use electronics and autopilot as well as fridges
